'multiview' window stops running apps

Not sure what its really called, but the button on the top, between the two +/- (Vol/station) buttons on the remote, where you can see and switch to other running apps... Stops running apps if you use it.
For example a movie will completely stop, file copies will stop, etc..

This dont seem right seeing you can press the left or right buttons to purposely exit
any running apps..
